About Our School

Somerset Oaks Leadership and Innovation is a Title I charter school focused on leadership, innovation, and student responsibility. Our students learn to take charge of their education, work together, and prepare for future success.

The Dragon Den school store is one way students practice leadership skills in a real-world setting. By running the store, students learn responsibility, teamwork, and how to serve their community.

The Seven Habits

Our school culture is built on seven habits that help students become effective leaders. These habits guide how we learn, work together, and treat one another.

  1. Be Proactive Choose actions and words on purpose. Take responsibility for your choices instead of blaming others. You are in charge of how you respond to situations.
  2. Begin With the End in Mind Set a goal, then plan steps to reach it. Before you start a task, think about what you want to accomplish. Having a clear picture of success helps you stay on track.
  3. Put First Things First Do important tasks before fun tasks. Learn to prioritize what matters most. Work first, then play—this helps you get more done and feel less stressed.
  4. Think Win-Win Look for solutions where everyone benefits. Instead of trying to beat others, find ways for everyone to succeed. Good leaders help others win too.
  5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood Listen first, then share your ideas. Really hear what others are saying before you respond. Understanding others helps you communicate better.
  6. Synergize Work as a team and value differences. Together, people can accomplish more than they can alone. Different ideas and strengths make the team stronger.
  7. Sharpen the Saw Take care of body, mind, and friendships. Balance is important. Make time for exercise, learning, relaxation, and spending time with people who matter to you.
